Supercharged BBL

Supercharged BBL

If a patient has sufficient fatty tissue but not enough for a buttock augmentation (BBL, Brazilian butt lift), an additional buttock augmentation can be performed with an implant during the same procedure. This form of augmentation is also known as a "supercharged BBL". Almost all of the extreme results you see in the media have been achieved in this way. We explain this technique in detail.

Combination of implant and fat tissue transfer (BBL) for buttock augmentation

Duration of the OP
3-4 hours
Aftercare
Sitting only with BBL cushion for 6-8 weeks
Sociability
after about 1-2 weeks
Sport
after approx. 8 weeks
Pain
Medium to intensive
Sexuality
approx. after 6 weeks

There are various reasons for a so-called supercharged buttock augmentation. On the one hand, if the patient's own fatty tissue is not sufficient for buttock augmentation, the classic Brazilian butt lift with implants and autologous fat promises more success. On the other hand, unwanted fat deposits on the flanks and saddlebags can be removed by liposuction and the fat tissue obtained can then be used for additional buttock augmentation.<br> Technically, fat transfer works like any other lipofilling procedure: the fat tissue is suctioned from the desired areas, processed and then reintroduced into the subcutaneous fat layer between the muscle and skin. In addition, however, an implant specially developed for buttock augmentation is inserted under the gluteus maximus muscle. The size and shape of this implant depends on your wishes and is determined before the operation. The pocket for the implant is then prepared via an incision in the buttock crease and the implant is inserted into this pocket. While the implant is placed under the gluteus maximus itself, fat is also injected over the muscle to form a cushioning and natural tissue layer. When placed correctly, the implant is neither palpable nor perceptible.

For further information, please see the bottom of the page. This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures are presented and the risks and side effects are explained. However, this cannot replace a personal consultation (also via video), in which these aspects are explained and adapted individually. We therefore look forward to a personal consultation with you!

After Treatment

The aftercare is demanding - regardless of whether it is a buttock augmentation with autologous fat alone or a combination of buttock implants and autologous fat. This is because the transplanted fat must be protected from pressure, and this is relatively complicated on the buttocks. Sitting and lying on the back is not possible at all in the first 8 weeks, or only to a limited extent depending on the recipient region. Full and normal weight bearing is only possible after 3 months. This operation must therefore be well planned and integrated into your life. We will provide you with compression garments at the donor sites to protect the result and help the skin to recover. The operation is always performed under a short general anaesthetic and involves an overnight stay in the clinic. The pain is rather mild (autologous fat alone) or more severe (in combination with an implant).

Results & risks

In our experience, at least +/- 40% of the fatty tissue is lost in a pure buttock augmentation with autologous fat, while the rest heals and ensures a permanent result as living cells. For this reason, we transplant more volume during buttock augmentation than we would like to have as a result in the end, as the 40% loss is "factored in", so to speak.
Nicotine abuse (smoking) is absolutely prohibited and must be discontinued around the time of the procedure, as it jeopardises not only the transplanted fat but also the entire result.
In the case of buttock augmentation with implants and autologous fat, further surgical risks also apply to the implant. This may need to be changed in the course of the patient's life. It may also slip out of place or become inflamed in the initial phase and then have to be reinserted. This requires special co-operation from the patient and close coordination with our clinic so that both parties can enjoy a successful result after the critical phase of 4-6 weeks.
