You have tried what feels like the 500th diet, tried to intensify your exercise programme, but they just stay where they are: the stubborn fat deposits on your hips, stomach and flanks? Even slim people suffer from these annoying fat pads, the so-called storage fat, which stubbornly resists all attacks. If dietary changes, fitness and exercise do not help, liposuction may be the solution. On the other hand, you remember scary videos of brutal liposuction with thick steel cannulas and horrible suction noises. That was yesterday! Today, modern liposuction techniques help us to carry out the treatment gently and safely.

There are many methods of liposuction. Laser lipolysis, vibration lipolysis, radiofrequency lipolysis, but which technique is right for you and which will benefit you the most? Of course, nobody wants fat deposits, but in the jungle of modern procedures it can be difficult to find the right way. We explain why WAL liposuction (water-jet assisted liposuction) may be the right technique for you.

For further information, please see the bottom of the page. This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures are presented and the risks and side effects are explained. However, this cannot replace a personal consultation (also via video), in which these aspects are explained and adapted individually. We therefore look forward to a personal consultation with you!

Who is it for?

At Praxisklinik am Rosengarten, we use WAL liposuction primarily to treat patients who want to have large amounts of fatty tissue removed, e.g. from the abdomen, flanks, thighs or several areas at once, because dieting and exercise have not helped to reduce these fat deposits or because they simply lack the time and motivation to do so. Patients who have a normal figure but unfortunately suffer from fat deposits in certain areas that just won't go away. Typically these are the stomach, flanks (love handles), bra roll (banana wings), riding breeches and thighs. Patients who want to have problem areas liposuctioned and need the fat for a fat transfer (lipotransfer). The fat is often used to slightly enlarge the breasts, shape the buttocks or treat wrinkles on the face. A very modern technique that does not require any foreign material. A technique of the future. And before we forget: The liposuctioned fat cells cannot return to the treated areas! If the fat tissue is not transplanted to another part of the body, e.g. to plump up the breasts or buttocks, it is essential to maintain a regular diet after WAL liposuction until the feeling of hunger has stabilised at a new, lower level. Please note that the fat obtained during WAL liposuction is ideal for autologous fat transfer (lipofilling). So if you are interested in having your breasts, facial wrinkles or buttocks reshaped with 100% natural filling material, be sure to talk to us about this option. This is because once liposuctioned fatty tissue is lost, it is no longer possible to transfer fat of the same quality at a later date.

Details

In classic tumescent liposuction, large amounts of saline solution were injected into the tissue to be removed, where the fluid had to be left to act for up to 45 minutes before the fat cells could be suctioned out. The skin over these fat pads was often overstretched and did not regress optimally afterwards. In addition, the large volume of saline solution introduced put a strain on the cardiovascular system, and the access points, which were often left open, oozed for days until the fluid was completely removed from the body. Fortunately, these times are over, as WAL liposuction (water-jet assisted liposuction) now offers a superior alternative. For smaller areas, the operation can often be performed under local anaesthetic, twilight sleep or a short sleep anaesthetic. The fluid, which gently removes the fat cells from their matrix, is injected intermittently and sucked out again directly. This is made possible by a suction cannula, inside which the water is transported forwards like a high-pressure cleaner and the fat is sucked out again directly through nozzles attached to the side. Hardly any fluid remains in the body and water-jet assisted liposuction (WAL) allows the tissue to be removed in a very gentle and targeted manner. The lack of swelling of the fatty tissue also means that work can be carried out very precisely, as the surgeon can assess the results of his work at any time without being disturbed. Irregularities, dents and bumps can thus be avoided.

After the treatment

The aftercare of a WAL liposuction does not differ from the aftercare of other liposuction procedures. You will receive a customised compression girdle from us, which is already included in the fee. You should wear these day and night for 6 weeks and only take them off when showering. Sports, sauna and excessive activities should be avoided for a total of 3 months. We also recommend reducing your food intake after liposuction so as not to jeopardise the result through uncontrolled weight gain

Results & Risks

The advantages of WAL liposuction (water-jet assisted liposuction) are obvious:
  • Gentle liposuction without overstretching the skin
  • Reduction of bruising and swelling
  • Reduction of cellulite or skin laxity
  • Faster recovery
  • More precise liposuction even with small amounts of fat
  • Optimal conditions for fat transfer (autologous fat treatment)

Of course, the result also depends on the condition of your connective tissue. Dents and dimples occur time and again after liposuction, some of which disappear again after 3-6 months or need to be corrected. During the planning and initial consultation, we can tell you roughly whether there is an increased risk of dents and dimples in your particular case.
