EjaNova®: treatment for premature ejaculation (Ejaculatio praecox) - SDN

Premature ejaculation (ejaculatio praecox) is a common sexual dysfunction that affects one in four men. It involves ejaculation within a few seconds or minutes of the start of sexual intercourse – often uncontrollably and against the man's own wishes.

There are many causes. Premature ejaculation can, however, be treated. The surgical options available at the Praxisklinik am Rosengarten to improve the duration of sexual intercourse include:
-
Infusion therapies to improve erectile function
-
Enlargement of the glans (penis tip) using hyaluronic acid injection
-
Enlargement of the glans (penis tip) using autologous fat/nanofat injection
-
EjaNova® surgery to reduce hypersensitivity
Patients for whom the problem of premature ejaculation is very pronounced and for whom other treatments have been unsuccessful benefit from the surgical solution: the so-called EjaNova® surgery.
Few clinics in Germany offer this surgery, while it is already very common in the United States and Asian countries. Scientific data show that the time to ejaculation can be tripled and rapid ejaculation can thus be prevented or alleviated (study: link to the study ).
Since it involves microsurgical intervention, EjaNova® surgery should only be performed by an experienced specialist.
FOR WHOM
EjaNova® is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE). It is particularly suitable for men whose premature ejaculation is caused by hypersensitivity of the glans.
Suitable candidates for treatment:
- Men with diagnosed hypersensitivity of the glans, which leads to premature ejaculation.
- Patients for whom conservative treatments such as anesthetic sprays, medication, or behavioral therapy have not been sufficiently effective.
- Men with stable sexual function (no pronounced erectile dysfunction) but problems controlling ejaculation.
- Those affected experience lasting psychological strain and desire a long-term solution.
For whom is the procedure not suitable?
- Men with psychogenic ejaculation that is not due to increased sensitivity.
- Patients with severe erectile dysfunction or neurological disorders.
- Men who do not want a permanent change in sensitivity.
EjaNova® aims to selectively reduce the nerve sensitivity of the glans without significantly impairing sexual sensation or potency. A specialist consultation is essential to determine individual suitability for the procedure.
For further information, please see the bottom of the page. This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures are presented and the risks and side effects are explained. However, this cannot replace a personal consultation (also via video), in which these aspects are explained and adapted individually. We therefore look forward to a personal consultation with you!
During the operation, we work through a circumcision incision. If the patient has not yet been circumcised, it is highly recommended to have the circumcision performed during the same operation, as this can also improve the problem of premature ejaculation. An enlargement of the glans is also a useful addition and can help to reduce sensitivity!.
What happens during the operation? Special magnifying optics are then used to visualize the fine nerve branches that supply the tip of the penis (glans penis). Both the thickness and the number of these fine nerves can be altered, leading to increased sensitivity at the tip of the penis. This means that the glans is overstimulated during sex, resulting in rapid ejaculation.
Both the number and the thickness (diameter) of the nerves are analyzed and the nerves of a certain thickness that may be responsible for hypersensitivity of the glans are cut.
The layers are then closed again and the skin sutured in the same way as a circumcision wound.
When you are discharged, a bandage will be applied to the shaft of the penis, which should be removed briefly the next day for showering and then reapplied. After five days, the bandage can be removed completely and patients can resume normal activities.
The pain after EjaNova® surgery is very minimal and the use of light painkillers is usually enough to reduce it. It is not necessary to take any other medication.
