A fresh, young face radiates vitality and joie de vivre, both when looking in the mirror and when interacting with other people. Over the years, the skin loses its elasticity. This often first becomes noticeable in the cheek area. The skin slackens and so-called hamster cheeks appear.

The smallest form of facelift, the so-called mini facelift or mini lift, can help to minimise early signs of ageing.

With a mini lift, the facial skin in the mid-face area can be smoothed in certain areas to improve the appearance of the face, smooth the skin and make the facial expression appear more dynamic and active. The result of a mini-lift is usually a beautiful face with naturally firm and even cheeks.

A mini-lift generally refers to a minimally invasive form of facelift or skin tightening that is less extensive than traditional facelift procedures. A mini-lift is often considered less invasive and usually requires shorter recovery times than major surgical procedures.

There are different types of mini-lift procedures, but generally they aim to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin in the face and neck area. These procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis and often require only a local anaesthetic or light sedation.

It is important to note that the terms "mini-lift" or "mini-facelift" can be interpreted differently by different colleagues. It is therefore advisable to have a detailed consultation to discuss the available surgical options, consider individual aspects and gain a comprehensive picture.

For further information, please see the bottom of the page. This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures are presented and the risks and side effects are explained. However, this cannot replace a personal consultation (also via video), in which these aspects are explained and adapted individually. We therefore look forward to a personal consultation with you!

Who is it for?

A mini lift may be appropriate for people who have mild to moderate signs of aging on the face and neck, but do not want or need the extensive correction of a traditional facelift. Here are some factors that may indicate that a mini lift may be suitable for someone: 1. mild to moderate skin laxity: a mini-lift is usually suitable for people with mild to moderate skin laxity. If the skin is significantly sagging, a traditional facelift may be more effective. 2. fine lines and wrinkles: Mini-lifts are designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles on the face. If these signs of ageing are prominent in your skin, a mini-lift may be an option for you. 3. short recovery time: People who want a shorter recovery time and do not want the longer recovery time of a traditional facelift can benefit from a mini-lift. 4. outpatient treatment: A mini-lift can often be performed on an outpatient basis, which can be attractive for people who do not prefer inpatient treatment. The mini-facelift is not the right procedure if the patient's expectations are somewhat higher than this gentle technique can achieve. In many cases, it may make sense to choose a slightly more intensive technique or to add other treatments in order to achieve the treatment goal in the end. Nothing beats a detailed consultation with us at the Klinik am Rosengarten practice.

Details

A mini facelift is usually a minimally invasive procedure to correct mild to moderate skin laxity on the face and neck. The exact techniques may vary from surgeon to surgeon. At the Klinik am Rosengarten practice, we have established our own technique over the years, which is broken down into various steps. 1. consultation and planning: Before the operation, a detailed consultation takes place between the patient and surgeon. The surgeon assesses the condition of the skin, listens to the patient's wishes and draws up a personalised treatment plan. 2. anaesthesia: A mini facelift can be performed under local anaesthesia or in twilight sleep. The choice of anaesthesia depends on various factors, including the extent of the planned correction and the patient's preferences. 3. incisions: In general, a mini-facelift involves smaller incisions than a traditional facelift. Incisions can be made along the hairline or in natural skin folds to minimise visible scarring. 4. skin and muscle tightening: Through the small incisions, the surgeon lifts the skin and tightens the underlying muscles. This can help to remove sagging skin and smooth out wrinkles. The extent of the tightening varies in comparison to conventional facelifts. 5. liposuction (if necessary): Liposuction can also be performed if required to remove excess fat and improve contours. 6) Skin tightening and scar placement: After the necessary corrections have been made, the skin is carefully tightened and excess skin is removed. The incisions are carefully closed and care is taken to ensure that the scars are as inconspicuous as possible. 7. aftercare: The patient is discharged with precise instructions for aftercare. These may include wearing a compression bandage, avoiding excessive sun exposure and adhering to certain behaviours to promote a speedy recovery. It is important to note that while a mini facelift is less invasive than a traditional facelift, it is still a surgical procedure. Results can vary from person to person and recovery time can vary depending on individual factors. Other treatments can often be combined under the same anaesthetic, e.g. an upper eyelid lift or the removal of bags under the eyes, the skin can be smoothed and lost volume can be restored with an autologous fat transplant.

After Treatment

Of course, the mini facelift is a smaller technique than the conventional facelift. The incisions are somewhat shorter and the extent of tissue preparation is smaller. Nevertheless, even with a mini facelift, a corresponding downtime of approx. 2-3 weeks must be expected until the effects of the procedure have completely subsided. Of course, some make-up can be applied in the initial phase, but an appropriate resting phase should be planned in order to allow the results to heal stably.

Results & risks

The results of the mini facelift are not as intensive as with the regular SMAS lift. Due to the gentler preparation with the obvious advantages for the patient, the ageing process and a renewed increase in tissue changes also occur in the years following such an operation. The durability of such an operation can be estimated at 5-10 years. However, the result depends very much on the condition of the tissue and the quality of the connective tissue. Compared to the standard facelift technique, the mini facelift technique has a lower risk profile. The tissue is spared and the dissection remains free of facial nerves and vessels. This minimises risks and reduces side effects. The anaesthetic procedure can also be chosen to be gentler and the operation is shorter, which generally has a positive effect on the patient's recovery.
