Wrinkle reduction with botulinum toxin

Wrinkles on the face, for example on the forehead, around the eyes or around the mouth, can be a sign of natural ageing. However, if they become unpleasantly excessive and the face is not affected to the same extent in all areas, wrinkles can also be annoying for people and make them look tired and fatigued, "grumpy" or skeptical (for example, frown lines or forehead wrinkles).
Wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin (Botox)

You don't have to go to the operating theater with a knife to treat facial wrinkles, as there are now numerous small, minimally invasive procedures that improve the appearance of wrinkles without making the face look artificial.
Botulinum toxin and fillers are among the most important strategies for reducing facial wrinkles. The difference is quickly explained: botulinum toxin, also known as Botox, prevents excessive movement in the treated areas. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, does not change movement but fills the wrinkle under the skin.
For example, deep frown lines can be treated with a combination of hyaluronic acid and botulinum toxin (Botox), as Botox prevents excessive movement of the frown muscle, while hyaluronic acid fills in the existing frown line and thus flattens it.
In other areas of the face, either Botox or hyaluronic acid is used: if, for example, the wrinkle between the nose and lips, the so-called nasolabial fold, is to be reduced, only hyaluronic acid is used, as the muscle activity in the area around the mouth is important for facial expressions and should not be reduced by Botox.
In areas such as the horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, on the other hand, Botox is more commonly used, as a reduction in mobility is usually sufficient to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Both treatments, i.e. Botox and hyaluronic acid, are therefore justified, either alone or in combination.
In addition to Botox and hyaluronic acid, other so-called minimally invasive treatments are also used to rejuvenate the face and reduce wrinkles without surgery.
With the help of certain substances that are injected into the skin, for example, the skin surface can be smoothed overall and smaller wrinkles reduced. Other fillers are also available that can restore volume to the face and thus contribute to facial rejuvenation. In recent years, numerous new products have become established in treatments and help us as specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery to effectively and safely implement our patients' wishes.
As you can see, there is no one-size-fits-all solution for every wish!
For further information, please see the bottom of the page. This is where the advantages and disadvantages of the procedures are presented and the risks and side effects are explained. However, this cannot replace a personal consultation (also via video), in which these aspects are explained and adapted individually. We therefore look forward to a personal consultation with you!
Who is it for?
There are actually no reasons against wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid or Botox. A good and responsible plastic surgeon will, of course, work with you as the patient to ensure that the treatment produces a natural result. It can be helpful to reduce wrinkles in several stages, or to carry out the Botox treatment first and then reduce the remaining wrinkles with hyaluronic acid a little later. We are happy to advise you on these topics, because wrinkle reduction is individual and a treatment plan is always determined with the patient.
Details
The effects of a Botox treatment can be seen after about a week, as the medication needs some time to take effect. The effects of wrinkle treatment with hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, are immediately visible. Of course, both treatments can be combined with each other and other treatments such as a thread lift or peeling to smooth the skin can also be combined with Botox or hyaluronic acid.
